Dr.C.K. Prahalad - A Leader. A Visionary. An Epitome of Excellence.

“A leader is one, who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way”. – John C Maxwell.

Dr.C.K.Prahlad is undoubtedly one of the most influential business thinkers of his generation. A man with impeccable academic credentials, farsightedness and vision, he was the definition of excellence. His ideas were instrumental in remarkably influencing the dimensions of the contemporary business world.

His contributions to business management have empowered the way of thinking of the corporate domain. His concepts on Core competency, Bottom-of-the Pyramid and Co-creation have greatly influenced the perspectives of corporate strategy and their impact on the practices followed in the business world. Focus on sustainable development, application of technology to solve the problems of the poor and scalability of growth were his predominant benchmarks to bring these ideas to life. He knew the way to innovative advancements in entrepreneurship and economic development.

A remarkable characteristic of this great man was his concern for the poor and the underprivileged. This concern was the primary underpinning for his works towards the alleviation of poverty.

His drive and passion behind the bottom of the pyramid was his visceral understanding of the poor. He understood the pains, wants and needs of the less privileged from close quarters. He believed that mobilization of resources was of more importance than just allocating developmental aid for the alleviation of poverty.

Dr.Prahlad’s belief in the power of entrepreneurship extends not only to corporations but also to our academic careers. As students of MBA there are a lot of lessons to be learnt from this great business leader not just in terms of academic outlook but also as future business managers who would redefine the social, economic and industrial fabric of India and add value to the global community.

Being a part of the LIBA, an institution of the Loyola College society of which Dr.Prahlad was an alumnus, is a matter of immense pride and honor for me. Had he been alive today, the world would have benefitted much more from his unlimited ideas. His magnificent and invaluable contributions to the world will always continue to inspire and motivate business leaders in the times to come.
